What we do - Child Development Projects
- Nov.30.2012
Light the Candle International Inc (LTC) identifies committed and established Christian organizations to launch our CD projects. Each CD project obtains consent from the parents to have their children participate in the centers activities.
At a typical project, children come to the center every weekday. The project provides children with breakfast prior to school so they have the nutrition they need to function at their best. Mornings are spent in worship, biblical studies and preparation for school lessons. The children then disperse to their local schools for academic lessons. In the afternoon they are provided with a snack and academic tutoring.
We work with Mission Organizations
LOCAL AGENCIES: We only work with Christian organizations that follow the local government registrations and rules and have a governing board to monitor their activities. We also see to it that they are authorized to receive foreign funds as a charitable organization. We check their credibility and their relationship to the local community. We are committed to working with organizations that are invested and connected to the welfare of the families that they serve. Before financially committing to a CD project, we assess that the organization is Biblically sound, financially accountable, evangelistic in practice, and a good testimony in its locality. Finally, we create a written agreement with the mission organization that they would execute CD projects in accordance to all local, federal, state statutory laws as well as the LTC child development rules, guidelines and reporting requirements.
We help Mission Organizations with Child Development Projects
The mission organizations we work with oversee each project. The organization is responsible for selecting tutors, evangelists and the supporting staff for the CD projects. LTC works with the local organizations to implement the CD projects by providing financial assistance needed to organize and manage the project. This includes funding for nutritious food, school supplies and school uniforms for the children as well as administrative expenses such as salary for tutors and support staff members. We don't force children to accept our faith practices or change their faith practices or religion. As a matter of fact there are many children in our project attending our program regularly who are from non-christian background.
How do we monitor the projects?
- We believe that we can do nothing without God. Therefore, LTC board members meet and pray regularly for our projects, that God's care will fall upon each of these children we serve.
- Light The Candle International Inc representatives visit each project prior to approval and ensure it meets all the requirements of LTC.
- On an ongoing basis, each project is visited and evaluated on its progress by one of the LTC supervisor /representative.
- Light The Candle International Inc requires following reports from each project.
- Monthly Activity reports
- Monthly Finance expense report
- Quarterly Student progress report
- Daily Student Attendance report
